Useful Information
What is a Boiler Replacement Grant?
Homeowners with non condensing boilers can apply for a boiler replacement grant. A grant means the government will pay all of the cost of having your boiler replaced. All the works are carried out by qualified and approved installers. Fill out our short boiler application form to see if you’re entitled to government assistance.
How is the Boiler Grant free?
The government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Scheme is funded by the UK’s largest utility companies. As by law they are obligation to fund energy saving within the UK.
This provides homeowners the opportunity to say goodbye to inefficient non-condensing gas boilers and hello to a new A-rated combination boiler replaced completely free of charge.
Government Grant Schemes
Not many people are aware of all the different routes of funding and help to improve energy efficiency of your home and replace the old non-condensing boiler. Here at Lifetime savings we introduce you these schemes and how they can help you and your home.
- ECO 4
- ECO Plus
- Local Authority Flex Scheme
- Council’s LAD Funding
The most noticeable one is ECO Plus which goes live in Spring 2023 and has a £1bn worth of funding towards energy efficiency improvements.
What Does This Mean for You?
There are numerous benefits for customers. Heating accounts for around 55% of your annual household energy bill. But a new and efficient boiler (to replace your non condensing boiler) would reduce this cost significantly. In addition, a new boiler will not only add value to your home, but also reduce your carbon footprint.
Do you qualify for boiler replacement cost?
To be eligible for the government’s ECO scheme you will have to show that you legally own the property. The boiler is a old non-condensing gas boiler and meet the eligibility requirements of the scheme.

How do i know if my boiler is Non Condensing?
Here are some quick tips to help usually identify if your boiler is non-condensing or condensing…
- When was your boiler installed? UK energy efficiency regulations require that all gas boilers installed after 2005 should be a energy efficient condensing and/or combi boiler heating system.
- Do you have a hot water cylinder or immersion tank? An immersion tank would usually be sign of an older non-condensing boiler.
- Do you have a metal flue? To help we have included some pictures above of metal flues on the exterior wall to where you will find your boiler. This usually is a sign that your boiler is non-condensing.
Benefits of A-rated boiler replacements
Given that your household’s heating is responsible for more than half of your property’s energy bills, it’s vital that your boiler is operating as efficiently as possible. Here are five key benefits of replacing an old, inefficient non-condensing boiler with a new A-rated condensing boiler:

- New A-rated boilers are much less susceptible to costly breakdowns than older, inefficient models
- A-rated boilers can be connected to state-of-the-art heating controls for smarter energy consumption
- A-rated boilers produce much less carbon than other, older central heating systems, reducing your home’s carbon footprint
- Contemporary A-rated boilers are highly intuitive, making them easy to operate at home or on the go with the added benefit most or if not the majority of the cost is covered by the grants available
What does a boiler replacement grant entail?
- First and foremost, you must meet the criteria set against governments ECO scheme or LA Flex scheme
- Your existing boiler must be an inefficient non-condensing boiler, warm air or back boiler system
- All boiler replacement grants from the government or Local Authority Flex Scheme are non-repayable
